About Sunhouse. A Vancouver-Founded Childcare Agency.

We're here to disrupt the outdated childcare model.

Our story

Sunhouse was born out of our personal mission to disrupt an industry that so often fails families and caregivers. As sisters, we've always been driven by a shared passion for doing things differently. We wanted to create a space where trust, respect, and care are the foundation.

Too many families are left uncertain. Too many caregivers are mistreated. We're here to change that. By leading with integrity and understanding, we've created a solution that finally puts people first. This isn't just business; it's personal.

Meet the founders

Sunhouse is sister-founded by Nicole and April Hughes. When you reach out, you're talking to one of us. Not a contact-form queue.

Nicole Hughes

Co-founder · Brand & Growth

Nicole is the kind of person who sees the whole picture. As co-founder of Sunhouse, she leads brand strategy, growth, and the voice behind everything the agency puts into the world. She built that lens over years spent in the classroom as a primary and high school teacher, learning how children think, what they need, and how trust is actually earned. Then she became a mother, and everything sharpened again.

That layered perspective is what makes Sunhouse what it is. Nicole has sat in every seat at the table. She knows what families are really asking when they say they want someone they can trust. She knows what caregivers need to show up fully. And she knows that real standards only mean something when someone is actually willing to hold them.

She is that person.

April Hughes

Co-founder · Community & Care

April has always moved between worlds. As co-founder of Sunhouse, she leads the community, relationships, and the warmth that makes this agency feel genuinely different. Before building Sunhouse, April built a life in the arts, working as a makeup artist while spending years on the side as a sitter and nanny for families she genuinely loved. She kept coming back to childcare not because she had to, but because she cared about it.

What she could not keep coming back to was an industry that offered caregivers no real protection, no professional structure, and no one in their corner when things went wrong. She had been in those rooms. She knew what was missing.

Sunhouse is April's answer to that. A place where caregivers are treated as the professionals they are, and families can feel the difference that makes.

Our mission

Sunhouse isn't just another agency. It's a movement to raise standards and provide real solutions for both families and caregivers. We're committed to making a lasting impact, ensuring that trust, care, and quality are the cornerstones of every experience we offer.

Raising the standard

At Sunhouse, we set the bar high. We're uncompromising in our belief that both families and caregivers deserve more than what's currently available in the industry. We're committed to a culture of respect, transparency, and support, because everyone deserves to feel valued. By offering services that truly make a difference, we're not just changing childcare; we're reshaping the industry from the ground up.
